I have worked with animals since 1993 and have been a Veterinary Nurse since 1996 becoming a registered in 1999. During this time I also worked as a lecturer, teaching animal care and veterinary nursing. I’ve examined for the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and City & Guilds and assessed as a visiting officer for 2 different colleges/universities. I have also worked in a rehabilitation centre that offered physiotherapy and hydrotherapy to dogs.
After Covid I decided a change of career was necessary. Having run puppy classes for my veterinary practice since 2013 and already having an interest in training and behaviour I decided to pursue this route.
I worked from 2021 alongside Tony Cruse at Galleywoofers and 2 other dog trainers to gain knowledge and practical experience.
In 2022 I established my own business, Puppy Potential – Dog Training, and started helping people in 1-2-1 situations and then developed my own evening classes in halls. I have now taken over Galleywoofers from Tony Cruse after his retirement, giving me an outdoor venue for training.
My approach to dog training is rooted in positivity and rewards, tailored to meet the unique needs of each dog while strengthening the bond between them and their owners.
In July 2023, I became a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT), a non-profit organization established in 1995 to advocate for training methods that enhance dog welfare and owner proficiency. Furthermore, in February 2024, I became a member of the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT), recognised as a premier educational institution for Dog Trainers and Behaviourists. Both the APDT and IMDT are founding members of the UK Dog Behaviour and Trainer Charter.
I currently offer indoor and outdoor group dog training classes and one-to-one dog training sessions in Chelmsford and the surrounding areas.
